Jonas Simorangkir is a third-year student at the University of Bonn, Germany. Coming from Indonesia and growing up in the Philippines, he discovered his passion for MUNs in high school. Since then, he has taken part in many different conferences, both online and offline, playing many different roles: Delegate, Chair, Crisis Director, President of the General Assembly, Director-General, Under-Secretary General; and now finally as Secretary-General in GGMUN 2021. Aside from his passion for MUNs, resulting in a role as Vice President of Bonn International Model United Nations (the great MUN conference in the UN City of Germany!) successfully preparing an amazing conference back in November 2020, Jonas is a big fan of basketball, outdoor activities, reading and of course: cold drinks and rap music at the end of a long day. He hopes to bring all his experience to ensure high quality in GGMUN 2021 and excitedly wishes all the delegates the best in exploring the world of Model United Nations and working together to come to innovative and dynamic solutions!
17 years old, Vianca Caitlin Marie Go is from the Pearl Orient of the Seas, Cebu, Philippines. She currently in Junior College taking up Integrated Marketing and Communications at the University of Asia and the Pacific. Public Speaking has always been a part of Vianca’s life ever since the ripe age of six years old participating in various competitions and Ted Talks. She is also armed with leadership from being a student officer. Vianca decided to use her skills and venture into Model United Nations. She has been a delegate garnering various best delegate awards in international conferences. She has also chaired the biggest conferences worldwide. She has a strong passion for Sustainable Development Goal Number 4, Quality Education because she believed in Nelson Mandela when he said “Education is the weapon that can change the world”. Vianca has promised to be the voice for the voiceless and protector of the weak because change starts with you and she is proud of you for taking a step further in being the change our world needs.
Nikola Lukic comes from the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The most beautiful city of Banja Luka is his birthplace, current residence and where he attends high school. He always tries to take part in every extracurricular activity so he became a member of his local BaLMUN in 2017. At first he attended conferences as a delegate, but in the most recent iteration he acted as a chair. He also tried his luck in online MUN conferences and he had so much fun. Meeting new people is something he enjoys very much and he uses every opportunity to do so, whether it is MUNs, sports or travelling. His biggest passion is watching and talking about movies and he aspires to have a career in the movie industry. Being a football fan is his biggest vice.
Esa Nadia Mubariqah, a senior year economic student in Indonesia Open University. She also works as Senior Finance under a sport and hospitality company. She is the Most Outstanding Student in her college and recognized as an experienced debater. Due to her high interest in global diplomacy and international relationship, she started participating in MUN and has attended various events both as delegate, secretariat member, and chair. Esa believes that MUN is the right platform to improve many skills which is definitely needed in daily life, including career development. Most importantly, through MUN everyone will definitely gain knowledge on how our ideas could actually help so many people around the world. That being said, Esa is looking forward to all the ideas and cannot wait to meet all delegates in the UNEP committee!
This is Arif Rahman Risqullah, people called him Arif. He is an English Language Education varsity student at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Indonesia. Now, he always interests to discuss international issues and news up-to-date domestic or global interference. Arif has contributed to domestic and international MUN as the delegate, secretariat, and also the executive board. In these circumstances, he will become the vice director of the UNEP council that encourages him energy to handle the committee as long as with his director, Esa Nadia. He is absolutely grateful to listen to your debate and committee session at the conference. And, he keeps messaging you “no matter how many types of blood and tears to improve your honour feeling to be a part of the young leader in this era, Hope to see you all”.
Adolfo Alvarez is a Mexican-American Junior High School student at Universidad Espanol. He identifies himself as a Liberal Democrat citizen, Sustainable Development Goals advocate, and MUN enthusiast. Starting back in the circuit in 2016 and equipped with dedication, hard work, and determination, Adolfo’s performance as an agent of change has carried him to participate in multiple prestigious Model United Nations, discussion panels, global summits, academic competitions, and to found the international organization, Unity in Diversity. Adolfo is convinced that he will prepare himself enough to reach his most desired goal: solve the critical situation faced in the diplomatic, social and economic relationship between his two countries. Therefore, he is focused on returning to the United States to attend college over there very soon. Besides that, in his free time Adolfo loves to do community service, watch Netflix films, play mini-games, and spend time with his family and friends virtually and in person. Inspired by his Vice President and role model, Kamala Harris, when she said, “Anyone who claims to be a leader must speak like a leader,” he reminds all of you that you must raise your voices supporting the world changes since together we can build a better tomorrow for the future generations. From the other side of the globe, Adolfo is looking forward to moderating fruitful discussions to drive action and impact through dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation.
Pande is in his third year of International Relations undergraduate studies at the University of Indonesia, focusing on security and conflict resolution. Entering his fourth year in Model United Nations, he is looking forward to an inspiring performance by Global Goals MUN delegates. His past experience includes winning Best Delegate of Security Council in Brawijaya MUN and UNHCR in Tokyo International MUN, and Most Outstanding of UNICEF in FPCI UI MUN, alongside others. - in addition to chairing in several national and regional conferences. Hailing from Jakarta, Jose is a third-year undergraduate student of International Relations from UPN Veteran Jakarta. His research areas cover international security, diplomacy, development, and human rights studies – from which he publishes articles and currently Jose is also doing internships intertwined with those studies. He has been MUN-ing as a delegate/ chair since 2018 and he consider MUN as a competition that helped him to achieve his future in the IR world. He believes that should be utilized to achieve higher, practicing skills, and expand networks in life. He is looking forward to meeting the delegates and encourages all to speak up during the conference for better immersive diplomatic and substantive experiences that may change our life! Airish hailed from the Philippines, a host, advocate, and youth leader promoting gender equality and the importance of mental health. She is also a MUN enthusiast who won several awards in her MUN journey, have chaired several conferences across the world, and been invited as a speaker in various simulations. For over 3 years, she has been advocating for youth empowerment and has created several initiatives like free tutorial classes to youth who can’t afford to go to school. Mainly, she joined MUN for the reason that she wants to inspire young people that they have a capability to make great and real change in their society. As what she always believes in and her advise to all the aspirants, “The first is always the hardest, but literally worth it!
Aashna is a third year undergraduate student pursuing a dual degree reading European Social and Political Studies at SciencesPo Paris in France and University College London in the UK. Currently residing in Singapore, she has previously lived in France and India, where she’s originally from. Aashna is passionate about international law, global politics and gender equality, and enjoys studying languages. She speaks English and Hindi fluently, has an advanced level in French and is learning German and Spanish. Her MUN journey started in 2014 with the HarvardMUN in Boston and since then conferences have taken her across the world, most recently to Oxford and Madrid. She has previously been the Secretary-General of her college conference DIMUN in France and recently chaired at AWMUN Virtual Conference 2021. Aashna is delighted to be chairing UN Women at GGMUN virtual conference, and is hoping for a weekend of intense debates, lively discussions and new friendships. Sofie Sharaf is 21, lives in Frankfurt and she is currently in her final year of her Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Business Information systems. Her first MUN took place in 2016 and since she has filled different roles from delegate, over chair, to secretary general. As ICTs are not known for having a great women’s representation yet, it is also a personal concern to discuss empowering women. In her spare time, she loves to do various creative things like decorating cakes or crocheting. She is looking forward to working with you during GGMUN!
